But as Latin music has become increasingly mainstream in the United States -- and let’s remember that the Grammys honor U.S. releases -- the need for a small committee to determine the fate of the music is less urgent. What remains to be seen is how this empowered voting body will act with Latin releases. Will they take the easy way out, voting primarily for those names they recognize?
