The source of infection for nine cases remains under investigation. Almost half of the new cases are from south-west Sydney, eight are from south-east Sydney and seven are from western Sydney. There were 43 people in hospital, with ten in the intensive care unit, four of whom require ventilation. Of the ten people in ICU, one is in their 20s and another in their 30s. The number of close contacts isolating across the state also doubled in 24 hours, from 7,000 to 14,000. Of particular concern is a new case linked to IKEA in Tempe, which has now been linked to 2,000 new close contacts. Anyone who attended the premise on 6 July between 10am to 9pm is being urged to get tested and isolate.
