Onward, upward, drone-ward! HÃ¥fa Adai! Breaking through the drizzling cloud cover, sprightly little stars have been gleaming low over nighttime Guam, changing colors, and closing in! Even forming moving sky pictures and setting our imaginations on fire with hope and inspiration for a brighter future. During COVID-restricted Liberation festivities last week, for the first time ever, Guam Visitors Bureau and Bella Wings Aviation cofounders Charlie Hermosa and Pearla Pablo Cordero introduced our island to the visual delights of light-up aerial drones that glow like radiant stars which race across the celestial sphere. On the night of Liberation Day above Tumon Bay, and over San Dimas Church in Merizo the following evening, a hundred whirling quadcopters mounted with LED beacons spelled out messages of sacrifice and liberty, of gratitude and patriotism, of cultural pride and togetherness with easy-to-read shapes and blinking phrases.
