The report, which was published by the Australian Sports Foundation (ASF), revealed that athletes suffered a financial disadvantage as a result of the pandemic. Half of the respondents to the survey reported earning less than minimum wage - 23,000 Australian dollars (17,831.9 U.S. dollars) - in 2020 from sport and work despite 75 percent having competed at a national or international level. More than 60 percent reported lost income and opportunities during the pandemic while less than a third were eligible to receive the government's stimulus payments.
