Almost half of intensive care staff working on NHS Covid wards are suffering from severe anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) or have a drinking problem, new research suggests. The study found poor mental health was common among intensive care unit (ICU) staff and more pronounced in nurses than in doctors. Over half (59 per cent) of staff said their wellbeing was good but 45 per cent were classified as having at least one mental health issue.
