HALTON Hospital has paid tribute to Captain Sir Tom Moore and offered its heartfelt condolences to his family. The Second World War veteran became a national hero in 2020 after walking 100 laps of his garden to celebrate his 100th birthday and raise funds for the NHS. In the process, he was able to raise an astonishing £33million and was subsequently honoured with a knighthood from The Queen. Sadly, Captain Sir Tom was admitted to hospital over the weekend after contracting coronavirus and died yesterday, Tuesday. His legacy will live on across Halton and Warrington however, with staff working at both hospital sites benefiting from his fundraising feat.
