Hand grenade found by police in Dartmouth was a training device

DARTMOUTH — A hand grenade found at an undisclosed location Sunday by police was determined to be an inert training device and no threat, according to a news release from the Dartmouth Police Department.
During the execution of a search warrant on Sunday, Dartmouth Police detectives and members of the SEMLEC Search and Rescue Team, located what appeared to be a hand grenade, the news release said.
“As it could not be determined if the device was real and/or active, the Massachusetts State Police Bomb Squad was requested, and responded to the scene,” the news release said.
It was determined that the grenade was a military training device and did not pose any threat.
