Font Size Forbes magazine arguably published one of the worst hot takes trying to spin the abysmal report showing consumer prices skyrocketing at record paces in June. Following the Bureau of Labor Statistics’ (BLS) monthly release of the Consumer Price Index (CPI) data showing dangerous inflation, Forbes released an absurd story headlined, “There Is No Inflation: The June CPI Headline Head Fake.” Stevens Institute of Technology Teaching Professor George Calhoun argued that the CPI was “highly distorted. They may not know how highly distorted. Currently, several factors are inflating its value – yes, ‘inflation’ is inflated – to the point where the raw CPI is practically meaningless, even misleading.”
