By Pilar Wolfsteller2021-05-28T01:06:00+01:00 Hawaiian Airlines has pulled the plug on its Ohana by Hawaiian subsidiary as the pandemic and ongoing risk mitigation measures have led to a sharp decline in neighbour island service demand. The Honolulu-based carrier says on 27 May that it made the decision “following an in-depth assessment of the overall operation and its long-term viability”. “This is a heartbreaking decision, particularly for those of us who were involved in launching the business in 2014,” says Hawaiian chief executive Peter Ingram. “We took a hard look at the service and could not identify a way to restart and sustainably operate.”
