A Bicton man who was mauled by a shark in the Swan River on Thursday morning managed to swim almost 100 metres to shore after being bitten in the leg, his friend has revealed.
Richard O'Brien has recounted the horrifying moment the waters of the Swan River turned red after his mate and swimming companion, Cameron Wrathall, was attacked by a suspected bull shark.
The pair were resting in the halfway point of their daily swim off Bicton Baths in about 15-feet-deep water when Mr O'Brien saw a large fin come up from the deep towards Mr Wrathall.
