The Illinois Department of Public Health reported 3,114 new confirmed and probable cases of COVID-19 in Illinois, including 24 additional deaths. Currently, IDPH is reporting a total of 1, 454, 208 cases, including 23, 575 deaths. As of mid-last week 1,608, individuals in Illinois were reported to be in the hospital. Of those, 324 were in the ICU and 152 patients were on ventilators. The preliminary seven-day statewide positivity for cases as a percent of total test from Aug 5th – 11th is 5%. The seven-day rolling average of vaccines administered daily is 27,611 doses. Wayne County reports that from 8-9-2021 through 8-12-2021 there were 50-New Cases of Covid reported, bringing the Wayne Co total to 2058-Overall cases to date. There are currently 135 residents Isolating, with 1-Covid-19 related death reported; bringing the total overall reported Wayne County Covid-19 Related Deaths to 54. The Edwards County Tractor Drive is scheduled to be held today. Registration is $25 and opens at 7:45 a.m. Tractors will leave at 8:30 and return at approximately 1. The drive is open to all makes and models and tractors, provided they can travel at least 10 mph. The Bone Gap Chowder will be held today. It will be a Bulk line – Drive Thru Only service with chowder ready to serve at 4 p.m. There will also be Tractor Pulls in the morning, and horse rides for kids from noon until 3. Pastor Nathaniel from Samaria Missionary Baptist Church has announced that Sumaria Missionary Baptist Church will be resuming Sunday School on Sunday, September 5th at 9:30 a.m. This year marks the 100th anniversary of the Illinois State Fair Butter Cow. Unveiled on Wednesday, ahead of the State Fair opening Thurs, the 800 lb. butter cow was created by Sarah Pratt of Iowa. The sculpture is of a girl hugging the cow, using this year's state fair theme of embracing tradition. River stages as of this morning: the Little Wabash east of Fairfield stands at 23.86 feet, above the 17 ft. flood stage. Meanwhile, the Skillet Fork at Wayne City has a reading of 5.77 feet (flood stage is 15 ft.). The Little Wabash below Clay City is at 20.20 feet above it's 18 ft. flood stage. Bonpas Creek at Browns reads 5.03 feet, and the Little Wabash at Main Street in Carmi reads 17.64 feet. The Wabash River at Mt. Carmel sits at 5.87 feet.
