Wayne City schools are scheduled to hold their graduations today in the district's competition gym. The high school graduation will begin at 2 p.m. and the grade schools's at 5 p.m. Each graduate will be allowed 15 guests and all guests and graduates should wear face coverings while indoors. Individual photographs will be taken in the performance gym 90 minutes before each ceremony, or 12:30 p.m. for the high school and 3:30 p.m. for the grade school students. The Illinois Department of Public Health reported 1513 new cases of the coronavirus Saturday and 46 deaths, bringing the state's totals to 1,365,020 cases and 22,415 deaths. According to reports, the Franklin-Williamson Bi-County Health Department reported five new cases of the virus in Franklin County Saturday, bringing the county's total to 4569 cases and 67 total deaths. The IDPH says just over 10 million vaccines have been administered across the state. Illinois State Police reported an accident in northern Marion County Saturday morning that resulted in injuries to four people. Reports said 40-year-old Ladeisha Whitaker of Maywood swerved to miss a large piece of tire debris in the roadway on I-57 south of the Farina exit and hit a ditch before coming to rest in the median. Whitaker and three passengers were taken to an area hospital following the accident, which occurred just before 7:30 a.m. A portion of Illinois Route 14 near the Franklin-Hamilton County line is scheduled to remain closed through 6 a.m. Monday as crews work to replace a drainage structure. Message boards and signs are in place to alert traffic of the closure and drivers should follow the marked detour route. Interstate highway drivers in Illinois may soon see signs directing them to charging stations for electric vehicles. The Illinois Department of Transportation says it's part of a national effort to promote vehicles that run on alternate fuels. The move is also in line with Governor J.B. Pritzker's goal of putting 750,000 electric vehicles on the road by the year 2030. The signs will go up on several interstates in Illinois, including interstates 55 and 70. Area river stages this morning: Little Wabash River east of Fairfield is at 7.57 feet. Flood stage is 17 feet. At Clay City the stage is 6.32 feet. Flood stage is 18 feet. At Carmi the stage is 5.9 feet. Flood stage is 27 feet. The Skillet Fork at Wayne City is at 5.34 feet. Flood stage is 15 feet. The Wabash at Mt. Carmel is at 13.89 feet. Flood stage is 19 feet.
