The Fairfield City Council will meet in regular session tonight at 6 p.m., with a public hearing on Rezoning of Property to be held prior to the meeting at 5:50 p.m. Items on the agenda include properties owned by the city up for condemnation; appearing on the Community Connection, Mayor Mike Dreith spoke about the situation regarding condemned properties in the city. Also on the agenda will be the purchase of used vehicles for the Police Department as well as the sale of two used police vehicles. Another topic of interest in the meeting will be a response to recent social media posts regarding the condition and maintenance of the cemetery. Mayor Dreith touched on this topic during Community Connection as well. Wayne County Farm Bureau members attending the annual Appreciation Dinner on Thursday, August 12 will now have the option to receive their meals in a drive-through line. The announcement was made Thursday morning by Wayne County Farm Bureau Manager, Doug Anderson. The Member Appreciation Dinner will be held August 12 at the Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Fairfield. Dinner will be served from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm. Members have the option to dine-in, carry out, or drive-through to pick up their meals. In order to avoid backing up traffic onto Delaware Street, members who would like to use the drive-through option are encouraged to enter the CP Church parking lot from Cumberland Drive. Cumberland Drive can be accessed by going south on Airport Road from Delaware Street, then turn right onto Cumberland Drive. Members will still need to obtain their tickets for the dinner at the Farm Bureau office. Meal tickets will not be sold the day of the dinner. The Wayne County Farm Bureau office is located at 301 E Court Street in Fairfield. The next Grayville City Council meeting, which was to be held on last night at City Hall, will now be held on Wednesday, August 11th at 6:15 PM due to the lack of a quorum on Monday. The agenda remains the same. In old business is the campground, demolition quotes and the demolition program, sale of excess property to the police department and the sewer upgrade project. In new business is the LIHEAP Agreement for 2022-2024, re-sealing of the Memorial Park basketball court and Change Order #5 from Wiggs Excavating for the water line replacement. Also, they will have the Treasurer's report, purchase order approvals, reports from the Police Chief/Utility Manager, City Attorney, Commissioners and the Mayor, as well as the recognition of visitors. In Accordance with Governor Pritzker's mandate, all staff, students and visitors to Fairfield PSD #112 Schools (North Side and Center Street) are now again required to wear masks within the buildings, and on school buses. Masks will also be required for all indoor extracurricular activities. This includes participants, coaches, officials and spectators. The Wayne City CUSD #100 Board of Education will hold a special board meeting at 6 p.m. tomorrow, Wednesday, August 11th, at the Wayne City Unit #100 Library. The purpose of the meeting is to discuss and have action on the governor's mask mandate and to employ two teachers. The Cisne Reunion starts Wednesday night at 6:30 with opening ceremonies followed by the Jeff and Sheri Easter Concert. Thursday night will feature the Miss, Junior Miss, Little Miss and the Tiny tots' pageants. Friday night the Dirt Devils perform at 7pm. Saturday activities begin at 6 am with registration for the 5K, breakfast will be served at the Community Center starting at 7:10 am. Car show registration begins at 8, and kids games will be at 10 am. The parade will line up at 2 pm at the Cisne High School, Stan Zdan will be the parade grand marshal. The Cisne Reunion will wrap up Saturday night at 7 pm when Sojourn Rocs takes the main stage in the Cisne park. Throughout the Cisne Reunion there will be a craft and flea market vendors set up, specialty foods will be available and there will be Bingo Thursday through Saturday night. A 33-year-old Benton man was killed Sunday morning in a single-motorcycle accident around 9:36 a.m. in Washington County. According to Washington County Coroner Mark Styninger, Brandon Metcalf was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. He says Metcalf appeared to have been operating a Harley Davidson motorcycle northbound on Route 127 at Mississippi Road when he struck a guardrail on the east side of the road at highway speed. Metcalf was then thrown from the motorcycle approximately 35 yards from the point of impact. He was not wearing a helmet and suffered massive head injuries. Toxicology samples were taken by Coroner Styninger and will be submitted for routine testing. There will not be an autopsy or inquest. Washington County Ambulance Service, Washington County Sheriff's Department, Nashville Fire and Police Departments were all on the scene along with the Washington County Coroner's office. Bonpas Township officials have announced that crews will be oiling and chipping the portion of Prairieton Road, from Ebenezer Lane, south to Bethel Lane, east of Calhoun, today (Tuesday). Motorists are urged to observe all signs during the oiling & chipping work tomorrow. Bail was set at $200,000 for a 43-year-old Bluford man accused of sexual assault. Donald W. Dolgner was charged Thursday in Jefferson County Court with Class 1 felony criminal sexual assault by force. Jefferson County Sheriff's deputies arrested Dolgner Tuesday after they received a complaint of the alleged sexual assault of a juvenile. Following an investigation, Dolgner was taken into custody, brought to the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office, and incarcerated on the felony charge of Criminal Sexual Assault. Thursday in court he was advised of the charges against him and possible sentencing if he's convicted. A Class 1 felony is punishable by between four and 15 years in prison. Dolgner is next scheduled to appear in court on the charge Tuesday for a preliminary hearing and a first appearance with a court appointed attorney. The investig
