Two individuals sentenced to the Illinois Department of Corrections yesterday. 43 year old Deanna Wright Grayville charged with Retail Theft, class 4 felony received 4 years DOC. Wright was arrested in August by Carmi Police Department. State's Attorney Denton Aud prosecuted the case. Judge T. Scott Webb was the presiding judge. 39 year old Jeremiah Burnett of Crossville charged with Unlawful Use of Property, class 2 felony he received 4 years DOC...Aggravated Battery, class 3 felony...3 years DOC...Aggravated Unlawful Use of Weapon, class 4 felony 3 years DOC. Burnett had previously been sentenced to probation in April of 2020 for the offenses; however, his probation was revoked in September of this year. The Hamilton County 911 Center in conjunction with the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office will implement the ability to Text-to-911 during an emergency. Text-to-911 service will be available for those individuals who cannot safely make a voice call to 911 in an emergency. This will be a valuable service to the deaf and hard of hearing community. Testing for Text-to911 has been completed in Hamilton County and is available with plans from AT&T & Verizon Wireless. Text-to-911 may not be available outside of Hamilton County. If a text is made to 911 where that service is not available, a message will be sent back to the phone advising the customer to make a voice call. The White County Board will meet for their monthly meeting on Tuesday December 13th at 7:00 p.m. at the White County Courthouse. The meeting will get underway with the board accepting nominations for County Board Chairman and Vice Chairman followed by reports from County Officers as well as comments from visitors and communications. On the agenda for consideration, discussion and approval is an appointment to the Egyptian Health Department Board, and an appointment to the IllinoiSouth Tourism Board. Doug Anderson with the White County Farm Bureau will present a plaque to the County Board. A 51 year old rural Fairfield woman will spend the next year and a half under probation following her day in court Thursday. Tanya Ford was charged with Reckless Discharge of a Firearm, a Class 4 Felony, in May. Additionally, she was charged with Criminal Damage to Government Property. That second count was dismissed as per her plea deal however. A traffic stop landed an Eldorado man in the White County Jail over the weekend. On Saturday December 10th, an officer with the Carmi Police Department initiated a traffic stop on 38 year old Michael Williams of Pearl Street. Williams was cited and is being charged with Operating a Vehicle with Suspended Registration for Non-Insurance, Driving While License Suspended, Operating an Uninsured Motor Vehicle, and Possession of Cannabis. Williams paid $250 bond plus a 420 booking fee and was released. On Sunday December 11th, an officer with the CPD arrested 20 year old Hannah Anderson of Stevan Street on a White County warrant for Registration Suspended due to Non-Insurance. Anderson was originally arrested in July of this year for multiple driving infractions. Anderson paid $250 bond plus a $20 booking fee and was released. She is scheduled to appear in court on January 23 at 9:00 am. There will be a fairly light agenda for the city of Grayville at the next meeting of the City Council, which will be held on Wednesday 5 PM at City Hall. In old business is the Water Filtration Plant, ISP Health and Welfare Fund DC 58 demand for payment from the 2016 to 2022 audit, security camera system quotes, a request to vacate the alley in Martin's Addition, abandoned properties for demolition and clean-up, and a TIF Agreement with First Christian Church. Also on tap is approval of the Consent Agenda, the Treasurer's report, Purchase Order Approvals, and recognition of visitors, plus reports from the Engineer, Police Chief/Utility Manager, City Attorney, Commissioners, and the Mayor.
