Location: Peru (countrywide) Event: Arequipa Region in Strict Lockdown for 15 Days (June 19, 2021) On June 19, 2021, the Government of Peru announced the extension of emergency self-quarantine and movement restrictions due to high levels of COVID-19 spread, effective Monday, June 21 to July 11, 2021. Due to increased levels of COVID-19, the Arequipa Region will be under strict lockdown for 15 days beginning on Monday June 21, 2021. U.S. citizens are advised to review their travel plans accordingly. Please see below for updates to alert levels for cities and regions around Peru. All air and land transportation in and out of the Arequipa Department will be suspended for a period 15 days. During this suspension, inter-province travel within the Arequipa Department is prohibited. The use of private vehicles in the Arequipa Department is also prohibited.
