Waynesboro Record Herald What started as a photo and a text message between Mainstreet Waynesboro Inc. Director Bill Kohler and Borough Manager Jason Stains has resulted in three just-like-new historical markers restored in time for Founders Day in Waynesboro on March 20. The signs "The Gettysburg Campaign (1947), Old Log Building, (1955) and John Wallace Jr. (1955)" are located on Main Street in Waynesboro in the area of Virginia Avenue. The process started when Kohler noticed on a recent drive that the markers were showing signs of age. “Bill texted me a picture of the signs asking if I had an idea how to get them repaired," Stains said. "From there we talked with the folks at the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission and within a matter of minutes we had a response and they said they would get right on it. I couldn’t believe the speed at which this was completed, all at no cost to Mainstreet or the borough."
