He pauses a beat. “There’s no resort in Cloncurry.” In fact there’s not much of anything in Cloncurry, almost 2000 kilometres northwest of Brisbane and about 800 kilometres from the coast. Apart from red sand, low scrub, spectacular sunsets and sunrises – and, apparently, a lot of friendly people. (Cloncurry was voted Queensland’s friendliest town in 2013 and again in 2018.)
