Powell, the first African-American chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, maintains its tradition as a military friendly school. CCNY is among the top schools nationally to earn this designation in the 2021-2022 survey by Military Friendly®. The recognition is in the “large public” school category. Institutions earning the Military Friendly® School designation were evaluated using both public data sources and responses from a proprietary survey. Over 1,200 schools participated in the 2021-2022 survey with around 750 schools earning the designation. Of these, 162 were selected for the “Gold” award status for their leading practices, outcomes, and effective programs.
