WINNIPEG -- The City of Winnipeg is preparing for an incoming heatwave by opening a cooling centre and providing fresh water around the community. A heat warning is now in effect for Winnipeg, with temperatures expected to remain in the thirties throughout the week, reaching up to 37 C by Saturday. "We are not going to get the temperatures that we saw in British Columbia, but we are going to see some extreme temperatures and we probably will see some extreme heat and health warnings," said Jay Shaw, the manager of Winnipeg's emergency operations centre. "I am concerned about people being able to come in out of the heat."
