A relatively high number of people over 80 in the North East and Yorkshire have got their second dose of the vaccine as well: 54,330 or 12.2% of the region’s population in this age group. This is second only to the East of England, where 12.4% of those aged over 80 have been administered a second dose. London is third with a rate of 12%, while the Midlands has recorded the lowest percentage in England with 8.8%.
The data also shows that the North East and Yorkshire is ahead in vaccinating its under 80s, as 3.9% of people in that age group have received their first dose of the jab. This is second only to the North West, where 4% have been administered a dose of the vaccine, with the lowest rate recorded in London at 2.6%.
