Images of what the viaduct that will carry HS2 over the Oxford Canal between Banbury and Daventry have just been released as consultation with local communities about the structure gets underway.
The 62.5m long viaduct is expected to be formed by three pre-stressed concrete spans to carry the railway line across the canal, towpath and a country lane near the village of Wormleighton.
The structure has been designed by HS2’s main works contractor on the central section on the London to Birmingham route EKFB, which is formed by Eiffage, Kier, Ferrovial and Bam Nuttall. EKFB worked with design partner ASC, formed by Arcadis, Setec and Cowi, with architect Moxon. The canal structure is one of 15 viaducts and bridges on the central section that will be designed by EKFB.
