Rishi Sunak has set out his vision for artificial intelligence, revealing plans for a British AI safety institute, proposals to use the technology to boost productivity, and even the use of AI to help us harness the power of nuclear fusion. The speech was the introduction to a paper on AI produced by the government, laying out both the benefits but also the dangers of the relatively new and rapidly improving technology. Professor Paolo Sossi, from ETH Zurich in Switzerland who co-authored the paper, tells Tech & Science Daily about the discovery of a sort of blanket of magma around the planet’s core, which was previously undetected.
