Restriction imposed in Lamhainamdi village, Chumou-Peren border belt; Sumi Hoho appeals for calm

Dimapur, Nov. 7 (EMN): Deputy Commissioner of Peren, Vineet Kumar has imposed Section 144 of Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC), 1973 in Lamhainamdi village and adjoining areas of Peren district for maintaining public safety in the area. The Section 144 of CrPC prohibits assembly of five or more people and carrying of any lethal weapons and arms in the disputed Lamhainamdi village and adjoining areas. Under the law, anyone found violating the restriction can be booked for disobeying a public servant under Section 188. In another notification, Commissioner of Police, Dimapur, Rothihu Tetseo had announced the imposition of Section 144 of CrPC along the Chumoukedima-Peren border area belt. The order prohibited assembly of not more than five persons, carrying lethal weapons and firearms including lathis, dagger, machete, sticks, spears, catapults or any other dangerous articles in the highway stretch from Vihuto village – Khehoyi village – Kiyevi village area and along the Chumoukedima — Peren border belt, with effect from 12 noon on Monday.
