The Supreme Court of India has postponed the hearing of pleas challenging the constitutional validity of Section 6A of the Citizenship Act to November 7. The section, which was introduced in 1985 as part of the Assam Accord, sets the cut-off date for granting citizenship to Bangladeshi migrants in Assam as March 25, 1971.
