KITCHENER -- All the lanes of Highway 8 were closed south of Cambridge due to a crash on Thursday afternoon. Ontario Provincial Police say it happened just after 3 p.m. near Safari Road. Both the transport truck and pickup truck involved were heading eastbound on the highway when the pickup made a left turn and was rear-ended by the tractor trailer loaded with steel, according to officials. "The first vehicle did go off onto the left shoulder and the tractor trailer, which was following behind, did go into the right ditch," said Const. Middleton of the Burlington OPP. "We shut down the highway for approximately an hour while we investigated and removed debris off the road."
