Council's plans for one of Lancashire's biggest high streets praised by government Ambitious growth plans for one of Lancashire's biggest high streets received a welcome boost from government following a visit from the High Streets Task Force. In January, the High Street Task Force ran a workshop with representatives from Preston City Council, as well as some of the city's leading business and community figures to discuss how the city's growth plans can be realised. Their report followed the announcement of funding for Preston City Centre through the government's Towns Fund programme that will propel development projects in the city's historic Harris Quarter.
