BOSTON — Just a few days into his new role, Boston Police Commissioner Dennis White has been placed on administrative leave by Mayor Marty Walsh, who cited “disturbing issues” in his decision. White assumed command of the Boston Police Department when he was sworn in on Monday. Former Commissioner William Gross retired Friday after serving the department for 37 years, including the last two and a half year’s as commissioner, Law Officer reported last week. Walsh said White was asked to quickly step into the role of commissioner last Friday in an attempt to create a smooth transition within the Boston Police Department, according to reports.
