Roof space of empty house wrecked after fire on Garston Close, Westleigh

FIREFIGHTERS tackled a house fire in Westleigh this morning, with the property's roof space left "totally destroyed".
Three fire engines were sent to Garston Close at around 7.20am following reports a fire had broken out at a semi-detached house, which was empty.
Crews arrived and found the fire had broken out in the property's loft space and two upstairs bedrooms.
It was not necessary to evacuate any homes in the area and no-one was hurt.
Atherton Fire Station watch manager Martin Collinge said: "We used breathing apparatus and a hose reel to extinguish the fire.
