As the trial for the man accused of killing Mollie Tibbetts begins, KCCI looks back on Tibbetts’ life and memory nearly three years later.
Tibbetts was a University of Iowa student from Brooklyn, Iowa. She went missing in July 2018 while on a run. After weeks of searching, authorities located her body in a rural Poweshiek County cornfield. Sign up for our Newsletters
She was studying psychology and had a passion for child mental health services. She enjoyed participating in theater and the University of Iowa Dance Marathon.
Mollie’s Movement kickstarted multiple events in Mollie’s memory. One event included sending 15,000 cards as a random act of kindness. Mollie’s Movement has also created a Facebook page to help locate other missing individuals.
