BAE Systems acts as industry lead for Lightning Team UK. BAE Systems announced on 14 January that it will act as on-site industry lead on a support operations contract between the F-35 Joint Program Office (JPO) and Lockheed Martin in the UK. The two-year contract at RAF Marham is worth about $101 million, with work at RAF Marham including maintenance, mission planning and training services for the RAF and RN Fleet Air Arm F-35B fleet. This extends an existing sustainment service at RAF Marham (home to 21 F-35Bs) and will provide aircraft upgrades, maintenance, synthetic and maintainer training on-base, ‘along with the ability to customise specialist pilot equipment at one of the first Pilot Fit Facilities outside of the United States’, BAE Systems noted.
