A 35-year-old Syrian citizen says he has "lost everything" and is unable to help his family back home.
A resident at the direct provision centre in Mosney, Co. Meath is reported as being on hunger strike for the past three days.
The Syrian citizen says he is refusing to eat as he has "lost everything" fleeing his home country and now "cannot do anything" or is not allowed to work in Ireland.
Posting on the Say No to Direct Provision in Ireland Facebook page, the 35-year-old says he is unable to support his family back home and therefore, he "has decided to go on hunger strike until death because I die a thousand times every day while I am watching my parents die of oppression, hunger and illnesses."
