Well, itâs that day when we all like to talk Irish and do other stuff like eat cabbage and watch John Wayne in The Quiet Man, hunt for four leaved clovers, find the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow and in general celebrate spring. Itâs St. Patrickâs Day! The Irish have observed this day as a religious holiday for over 1,000 years. On St. Patrickâs Day, which falls during the Christian season of Lent, Irish families would traditionally attend church in the morning and celebrate in the afternoon. Lenten prohibitions against the consumption of meat were waived and people would dance, drink and feastâon the traditional meal of Irish bacon and cabbage.
