Drivers heading north on I-69 might want to consider another route as the project to rebuild 25 miles of highway between Marshall and Charlotte moves forward. Earlier this year, the Michigan Department of Transportation began construction to rebuild I-69 from south of I-94 in Calhoun County to Island Highway in Eaton County. So far, the work has been concentrated in Eaton County, north of Olivet. This month, construction is expanding with the start of pavement work from north of Ainger Road to north of Stine Road near Olivet. Work will continue north of Stine road to Cochran Road. Baseline Highway will be closed and detoured over I-69 as MDOT does work on the bridge. One lane will be open in each direction on I-69 using crossovers, and the northbound exit and entrance ramps at Cochran Road will be closed and detoured for rebuilding.
