Posted on 3293 IBM (NYSE: IBM) Security launched a new service to provide companies a platform to experiment with fully homomorphic encryption, designed to allow data to remain encrypted while being processed or analyzed in cloud or third party environments. The IBM Security Homomorphic Encryption Services provide companies with education, support and a testing environment for clients to develop prototype applications that can utilize the FHE. As the hybrid cloud grows, sensitive data will be more broadly stored, analyzed and shared across platforms and parties, exposing it to numerous security controls and risks. Encryption techniques allow data to be protected during storage and in transit the data must be decrypted while being processed or analyzed. This creates a window of opportunity where data is more vulnerable to theft or exposure.
