ICSO asking for assistance to identify suspect who damaged Fort Dobbs
 
Location of Incident: 438 Fort Dobbs Road, Statesville.
Suspect(s): Unknown male.
Sheriff Darren Campbell stated:
On Friday, February 5, 2021, Patrol Deputies with the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office responded to the Fort Dobbs Historical, located at 438 Fort Dobbs Road north of Statesville, site for a trespassing complaint.
During the investigation it was determined an unknown male entered the historic site, and attempted to enter the fort. The male then dug numerous holes around the property, possibly looking for artifacts.
Attempting to remove artifacts from a historical site is a Class 3 Misdemeanor under North Carolina General Statute 121-4(9).
