PEORIA (WEEK) - Illinois reaches a new milestone as COVID-19 cases hit an 11 month low. As of today, the Illinois Department of Public Health Reported 401 daily cases, which is the lowest number of cases in a day since March of last year with 330 cases. In Tazewell County, 39% of the population are fully vaccinated with 79% of the 65 and up age group fully vaccinated. In the last week, the county only had 21 cases of COVID-19. Tazewell County Health Department Communication Manager Sara Sparkman said the increasing rates of vaccinations and opening vaccinations to 12 -year-olds play a part in the state decline. "For Tazewell County, that's great when we can have a day with single digit new case," Sparkman said. "That's a great day."
