Illinois should not remove parental rights from abortion law

Rockford Register Star
Sadly, Illinois is considered the abortion center of the Midwest. Our state has legalized abortion for all nine months, provides tax-payer funding for abortion and has deregulated the abortion industry to the point where we have no meaningful safeguards for mothers.
Now some politicians in Illinois want to remove parental rights for teenage girls who seek an abortion.
The 1995 Parental Notice of Abortion Act simply requires that when a minor girl seeks to have an abortion, a parent or guardian be notified 48 hours before the procedure. This law allows parents to be part of the decision-making process of their young daughters.
