Guy Ward CHARLESTONÂ â Marion County lawmakers say Gov. Jim Justice's plan to eliminate the state income tax died for various reasons. Del. Phil Mallow, R-East Side, said House Bill 3300 was unanimously voted down after coming back from the Senate given there were tax increases throughout it. He said if someone really understands Governor Jim Justiceâs bill everybody ends up cash positive. However, there would be more tax on cigarettes and other lower lying things.
