A NUMBER of confirmed cases of the Indian variant of Covid-19 in the county has been confirmed by North Yorkshire county Council. At a meeting of the local regeneration forum today, Louise Wallace, director of public health with NYCC said: "There are a small number of cases of the Indian variant identified across North Yorkshire. Contact tracing is continuing to be carried out to identify cases. "Our rates of Covid remain low but it is important to get the vaccine and continue to follow the guidelines." The latest data from Public Health England is that 31 cases of the Indian variant (B.1.617.2) have been confirmed in the Yorkshire and Humber region.
