ISLAMABAD: The country’s installed capacity to generate electricity has increased to 37,261 MWs in July-April 2021 from 35,972 in the same period 2020-2021, showing a growth of 3.6 percent.
According to the Economic Survey 2020-21, the hydro generation has increased its share in energy mix by 26 percent to 9,874 MWs in July-April 2021 as against the hydel in the same period of last year. Likewise, electricity based on RLNG has jacked up by 199.66 percent to 7,325 MW.
The electricity based on RFO (residual furnace oil) has share in the energy mix at 16.84 percent, which is equal to 6,274 MW and coal based electricity share stands at 12.80 percent with 4,770 MWs. The share of electricity generated by natural gas stands at 12.15 percent, which is equal to 4,529 MWs. And the nuclear electricity’s share has increased by 6.68 percent that stands at 2,490 MWs. Similarly, the electricity generated by wind has its share in energy mix of 3.31 percent that is equal to 1,235 MWs. And electricity through solar stands at 1.07 percent with 400 MW and through baggase has share of 0.98 percent that stands at 364 MWs.
