Synopsis
"The most important issue for the organization is its ability to provide to its member countries the kind of support in solarisation that they need. We fully realise that it cannot be a case of one size fits all. What larger countries may need could be very different from what smaller countries or what a large country with low population may need. "
The International Solar Alliance, launched a little over five years ago at COP21, the UN climate meet in Paris, has new boss. Earlier this week Ajay Mathur, who was unanimously elected to succeed Upendra Tripathy at the special assembly of the ISA in February, took over as the Director-General of the International Solar Alliance. ET’s Urmi A Goswami caught up with Ajay Mathur for an exclusive interview on the challenges and opportunities that exist for ISA as the orgranisation grows and seeks to deliver on its promise of deepening and expanding the use of solar energy, particularly in developing countries.
