Did anyone really believe Sadiq Khan’s denials that he was thinking of introducing a pay per mile road-charging system in London? His protestations have been exposed by documents released under a Freedom of Information request which show that Transport for London (TfL) has spent £3 million on research into a project known as Future RUC – which in this case stands for ‘road user charging’ rather than the Royal Ulster Constabulary.
