iTWire Wednesday, 26 May 2021 13:46 Optus, Oppo & Ericsson trumpet success of voice call over 5G standalone network Featured Optus in collaboration with Ericsson and Oppo, have doubled down on 5G advancements, announcing a successful completion of a voice call over a commercial 5G standalone network. This voice call was conducted on Optus’ network using EPS-FB, which utilised Ericsson Radio Access Network (RAN) technology, Ericsson cloud native dual-mode 5G Core for standalone networks, Ericsson Cloud IMS and Oppo’s Find X3 Pro 5G handset. Optus said on Wednesday it had successfully demonstrated their first Evolved Packet System Fallback (EPS-FB) call which “leads the way for what will become the next evolution in mobile calling”.
