Two months after the election, and a month since she was sworn in as the MP for Rangitata, she admits it hasn’t really sunk in yet. That might partly be to the time of the time of year – she received a lot of invites to various Christmas celebrations - but also the unprecedented nature of it. “On the morning of the election, I said to my husband Matt that I hoped we would win, but I didn’t want to dash our team’s hopes as they had put so much effort into the campaign. “I just would not accept it until it was absolutely officially called.”
