Judge rejects Raceland man's request for new trial in double murder A judge has denied a Raceland man’s request for a new trial after he was convicted of killing two men in 2018. A jury on June 23 found Kerry Alexander, 36, guilty of two counts of second-degree murder following three days of testimony and about an hour of deliberation. He was convicted of killing Marcel Turner, 26, of Thibodaux, and Jeremiah Ballard, 23, of Raceland. The defendant’s brother, Jerrell Alexander, 31, was convicted in the murders Dec. 19, 2019, and was sentenced to life in prison. Following Kerry Alexander’s conviction, his New Orleans attorney, Robert Pastor, filed requests for a new trial and post-conviction relief.
