HONOLULU, Hawaii (HawaiiNewsNow) - A judge ruled that the actions taken by Department of Land and Natural Resources law enforcement officers at a Fourth of July “floatilla” event in 2017 were reasonable.
The court ruled in favor of the DLNR Division of Conservation and Resources Enforcement’s decision to board a vessel to address safety concerns.
Former Chief Robert Farrell and Lt. Carlton Helm boarded the vessel after receiving reports of a fight onboard and the extensive use of alcohol by adults and underage participants. The officers also boarded the vessel due to concerns of high seas.
