Juli Metzger Masked up and united last summer, protestors marched from the heart of campus at Ball State University, east down Riverside Avenue, south on Wheeling Avenue, across the bridge, and settled in front of City Hall. Muncie police officers, community stakeholders and university thought leaders, along with students, local residents and business owners, sent a clear message: racism has no place in Muncie. The estimated crowd of 3,000 was the largest local peaceful protest that many of us could remember. It took place in the wake of the George Floyd murder, and the growing chorus of voices supporting Black Lives Matter.
