Jury in East Lancashire murder trial discharged after failing to reach verdict THE JURY in a murder trial have been discharged by a judge after they failed to reach a verdict. Members of the jury in the Stuart Newton murder trial were sent out to deliberate on Monday – meaning they have been considering the case for the last three days. However after failing to meet a majority verdict, Judge Suzanne Goddard QC discharged them on Wednesday afternoon, thanking them for their service. Nathan Williams, 31, of Mount Pleasant Street, Oswaldtwistle, was charged with the murder of 65-year-old Mr Newton after he was attacked outside a house in Worsley Court on February 12 2020.
