Kamehameha Schools celebrates its 101st annual Song Contest virtually

The Kamehameha Schools Song Contest airs at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, May 7, 2021.
HONOLULU, Hawaii (HawaiiNewsNow) - Kamehameha Schools aired its 101st Song Contest Friday night, celebrating the annual tradition with a pair of senior students hosting the event.
Seniors Jeslie Pavao and La’akea Awong served as the first-ever student hosts for the event, paving a new path because of the pandemic.
Grades 10 through 12 were given the opportunity to showcase the songs they would’ve sang last year.
The theme from last year, “I Mau Ke Aloha Aina,” carried over, and the songs expressed a deep love for the land.
