Kansas goes for GIS over paper waterline map Posted By GARY HENRY ghenry@prairiepress.net KANSAS — Paper maps for infrastructure will soon be a thing of the past in the Village of Kansas. The village board met Wednesday, July 7, and approved hiring the Coles County Regional Planning Commission to create an electronic GIS map of the village’s water system that precisely locates every water meter, fire hydrant and valve. The cost is not to exceed $4,000.
